Well, it didn't take long for our new sailboat to, uh, break her sail. Since that sort of takes the fun out of sailing, I guess we should fix it. That meant taking it off the roller furling, and eventually dropping it at the sail shop down the road.
Basically what happened: when we were sailing Kingsley from the Elliott Bay Marina to Shilshole there was about 20 knots of wind. We were close hauled (sails in close, sailing 'upwind'), going along fine, and then pow! The sail tore at the clew (picture below). Nothing says owning a boat like not actually boating and fixing things instead! ~Paul ETC Update: I dropped the sail off at Ballard Sails today after work! They said the tear is pretty common, she should be ready to go in a week!
