I had to repost this poster/event announcement for The Big Cranky! If you've ever walked down Seattle docks at night (and sometimes during the day), especially at Shilshole Marina, you've probably been startled by one or more of these giant bird-dinosaurs. These blue herons nest nearby and walk around our docks like they own the place. Just last night I was walking to the boat, surfing the mobile phone-web, and pow! A 4 foot tall cranky crosses my path and takes flight, giving me a few honks and a heart attack. Maybe I should head over to Seattle's Heron Habitat Helpers' Open House this Saturday and learn how to sneak up on them for a change!
