Sometimes what makes a great road trip isn't always the destination, but the crazy stuff you see along the way. On our way to Moab, Utah we enjoyed our first Hawaiian shaved ice (it was gigantic and creamy…yeah that's right - I added a cream shot on top), caught a glimpse of some nasty forest fires, and was often amazed at happy construction workers standing in the middle of the million degrees desert with no water. Then we saw something more amazing than any of that - a petting zoo at a gas station. Pow. Let's make that a free petting zoo at a gas station (the Scipio, Utah Eagles Landing Flying J to be more specific)! We landed at this gem on a little scenic highway shortcut - the Scipio exit off of I-15. It takes you down highway 50 towards Salina. From there you continue on I-70 and wait for the Moab turn. Check out the mini-route here. Kinda equal parts strange and amazing to see zebras in Scipio, Utah, but that's how it goes on the road! The land quickly changes as you head down the final stretch of highway 191 towards Moab. Flat to rocky to cliffs to…sand dunes! More from Moab this week as we stay a few days and hike some great trails in Arches National Park!
