Another post from the Archives! This trip was originally posted on the old site last December, 2010. It's kinda funny that last year I was kayaking in the snow on this day - this year it turned out to be 50 degrees and sunny (Northwest winter). We'll post day 2 from this trip tomorrow - just trying to move all of the old posts here and keep the blog-a-posting through the holidays. We've got lots of trips planned (with kayaks) this week and next! Enjoy! - Paul ETC Everyone's Travel Club kicks off the winter paddling season with a weekend trip to Quilcene Bay near Quilcene, Washington. It pretty much snowed on me during most of the trip, however, the water was green, our cabin had waterfront for easy launch, and despite the weather it was tons of fun. We took the Bainbridge Ferry across the Sound right after work on Friday. I woke up the next morning, inflated my Innova Helios II, and carried it on top of my head down to the water. The little white specs in the water are oyster shells! Quilcene Bay is known for their oysters, below is a picture of some of the commercial beds (don't ask me how they work). Brrrr. Time to head in, more kayaking on day 2!
