I've been looking for a little downwind kayak spinnaker for some time. It turns out Santa did his homework and hooked me up with an Advanced Elements sail from West Marine. It's time to see what she can do. And she's up! It got the job done (there was some decent wind so paddling back was a little rough). When I got back to the dock I decided to mess around with how the sail attaches to my Innova kayak. Ah ha! I basically had the kayak sail rigged, let's say, creatively [wrong]...I figured it out (pic below) and am ready to go for next time! One more stocking stuffer - compass...nice work Santa!

Since we're kinda new to the marina neighborhood we didn't realize that apparently around this time of year decorated ships sea carol there way around the Ballard Locks, Shilshole Marina, and Golden Gardens. People gather with fires on the beach, bands play at the beach house, the yacht club was handing out drinks to members at the clubhouse...man, the NW knows how to celebrate on a chilly Wednesday night in December...tis the season! ~Paul, Amber, ETC Hey look: daylight, a little sun, and it's not raining! Time for a quick paddle off of Kingsley the sailboat to the 'surfer beach' (Point Shilshole Beach). It's the beach that Surf Ballard uses for stand-up paddle-board launching. We give you the tour in pictures (as usual:).
