Kayaking the Edmonds Marina Breakwater

ETC took a little trip aboard Kingsley last weekend, North from Shilshole to stay the night at the Edmonds Marina in Edmonds, Washington. We brought our two Innova Safari kayaks on deck and set out to explore the Edmonds marina and breakwater.

First, breakfast on the new grill...ok, newer grill.
P.S. - the cast iron keeps the grease and liquid out of the fire (the drip pan is small and shallow, the grill is hard to clean without taking the whole thing apart, & the cast iron stays warm after the fire is out so you can cook on low...because the grill doesn't really do low).

I usually add the sailor flotation/seat cushions to my Safaris since the water is cold and some of my kayakers are a little over the weight limit (me) on these guys (water comes in and out the self-bailing holes).

Paddling next to the snow covered breakwater! Actually, that's bird poop.

Not a bad little paddle. The marina is a lot smaller (actual size and number of boats) than Shilshole but has some really cool boats. The entrance, at least in the summer, can get a little busy with pleasure and fishing boats so paddlers should be careful. Although we launched off the back of Kingsley as marina guests, anyone could put in close to the marina - there are beaches on the North and South ends (see map below).
