As I practice with my new drone, I'm always thinking about adventure hotspots here in Eastern North Carolina, and what they would look like from above. One place we frequent is Croatan National Forest. It's great public land - a place to fish, kayak, explore, hike, hunt, 4x4, and even drone. We've played around Croatan's (accessible by car) lakes before - Great Lake and Catfish Lake - but this time we cruised over to the boat launch at Great Lake to see what she looks like from above.
Verdict? It's amazing. It's huge! We haven't paddled here yet but man I would love to. I'd really like to sail on the lake. Apparently it's very shallow - no deeper than 6 ft and less than that in a lot of places. It still might be possible to get my little Hobie Bravo there. More on that story as it develops. Until then, enjoy a quick video we made with some of the day's footage:)
